Tadpole Trot

On your mark...

get set...

F and E ran in the Tadpole Trot this weekend.  It's the kids race that's part of the bigger Wrigley River Run.  The past 2 years I've done the 5K (with a double stroller) but I passed this year since I'm still barely 4 weeks post-partum.  F was looking forward to the Tadpole Trot since she ran last year and I figured E could try to tag along this time.  I knew I'd probably have to run with her, so I secured baby C in the Moby pretty well before the race started.

Poor little E was the last one to leave the starting line.  Actually, she only started running to run to me!

We ran together until we saw F coming back around.  Then we sort of cheated and hopped over the median to join F to the finish line.  I was so proud of F!  She ran the whole way.

I could tell she wanted to stop when she saw me, but I told her she was almost there and that she should try to cross the finish line before she stopped running.  She made it all the way without stopping.  Medals were awarded of course...

She was elated and ran "fast" the rest of the day to prove to everyone how fun it is.  Then she promptly passed out well before bedtime.  Although little E didn't run the whole thing, she too was pretty pooped from the excitement and fell asleep in the car on the way home.  At 10:30 in the morning!

Here's some photos from last year's Tadpole Trot.

If you're local I highly recommend checking out the race next year.  It's very family friendly, and the whole community is involved.  It's put on by the Long Beach Neighborhood Foundation, so it's all charity based, not big and corporate like the marathons...not that those aren't fun too though.

Way to go girls!!
